London-based art school graduate JW Ridley caught our attention 6 months ago with an epic 8 minute release on legendary producer Dan Carey's very own label Speedy Wunderground. Ridley's new single 'Somewhere Else' is an continuation of the dark echoes from 'Everything (Deathless)', which sees Ridley diving deeper into the the realm of 80s-inspired post-punk. Making full use of modern technology with sharp electronically programmed drum beats, 'Somewhere Else' shares nuances with Trentemøller's recent works, which exist somewhere in the space between polished dance music and the early goth movement. It's dramatic yet infectiously catchy and probably one of the most interesting interpretations of post-punk we've heard this year. -HLMX
